Vision Statement

It is our vision to create a group of companies providing value adding services to the local Oil & Gas upstream industry managed and operated by Ghanaians for Ghanaians.

We will achieve this by prioritising available local knowledge and experience and complementing this with external resources where necessary with a clearly defined learning path leading to rapid growth of local talent.

We will meet or exceed international standards and deliver a service expected by IOC’s Governments and regulators as a minimum. We will do so by vigorously applying a plan-do-review-improve (PDRI) cycle in everything we do and where possible integrate with the costumers operations teams.

Strategy

In order to achieve our company vision, we will follow a path of measured organic growth which is paced to our financial capabilities.

We will therefore start by providing mainly engineering services under the SERAWEL umbrella whilst establishing ourselves as a trusted partner. Profits thus created will be re-invested in other branches of the group of companies in combination with the forming of strategic alliances with major services providers, complemented by external private equity and credit facilities.

Services will be delivered in ascending order of capital intensity thus achieving the above-mentioned pacing.

Furthermore, we will limit our exposure to areas where we have local knowledge and where the local Oil & Gas industry is still developing. That way we can maximize our input and the host country can benefit the most of our added value. In real terms this means West Africa with Ghana as primary hub complemented by the rapidly developing opportunities in Suriname and Guyana.

Deviation from the above will always be carefully considered on its merits, risks and growth potential; it is therefore important that if potential clients see opportunities arising for an agile service provider, they approach SERAKEM to evaluate to possibilities.

Alan Dowokpor

Alan is a Ghanaian who started out as an engineer with BP. He has worked on and managed various international drilling operations on five continents. He successfully led drilling, completions, subsea and logistics operations for the very successful fast track deep water Jubilee field project in Ghana
and subsequently led all of Tullow Oil’s worldwide drilling and completions as Group Well Engineering manager. Prior to that, he managed several deep water projects in Angola for BP.

Alan is also an international executive with over
30 years of experience. His career spans specific expertise in operations, engineering, gas to power projects, commercial negotiations, organisational
and business transformation, external affairs,
social responsibility, risk & crisis management, environment, health & safety leadership, conflict resolution and leading project reviews. Alan is particularly known for his integrity and as a leader with a proven track record of building and developing multi-cultural teams across diverse locations to consistently deliver top performance.

Alan is passionate about ensuring that host countries, local businesses and local people benefit from their natural resources.

Chris Roos

Chris is from the Netherlands but grew up in Luxemburg. He has a degree in Marine Engineering and started his career in Oil & Gas with Shell working in the Middle- and Far-East in various Well Engineering operational roles both on- and offshore. He has a convincing track record of setting up teams in frontier areas, manage remote operations and drive performance and HS&E in equal measures. During his tenure with Shell he was latterly responsible for upgrading and new-building of Deepwater drilling units which gave him an in-depth knowledge of rig equipment. After having delivered the Bonga-Phase 1 project in Nigeria, Chris joined Tullow to deliver both the world-class Jubilee and TEN projects offshore Ghana. He then progressed in Tullow with increasing responsibilities culminating in a position as Operations Manager in Suriname and ultimately Operations Director back in Ghana. Chris was instrumental in setting up the bespoke Well Engineering Development program for Tullow based on industry leading standards and ensuring that the WE department in Ghana was recognised as the pace-setter in terms of developing local talent. His exposure in a senior role to Subsea Engineering and Production Operations make him an excellent all-round upstream professional.

Chris has spent most of his career working in developing countries where coaching and mentoring of local engineers were part of his remit and for which he has developed a passion.

EXPERIENCE

Deepwater Well Management

Serakem has an in-depth experience of mainly deepwater well delivery acquired with major operators as well as leading independents. Given the frontier nature of our combined exposure, this encompasses the full suite of activities related to well delivery: operations, Safety and Environmental performance, contracts, cost engineering, logistics, marine transport, subsea support and SIMOPS. Besides these core aspects, the team has been active in the fields of subsurface interface, CSR activities and HR.

Angola drilling and testing
Exploration and Apraisal

40 successful exploration and appraisal wells in BP’s campaign, that went on to become the Greater Plutonio and PSVM deepwater developments in Blocks 18 and 31.  The wells had extensive evaluation associated with them. Wireline logs, coring, DST, extended wells tests and interference testing.

The latter wells in the campaign were complex subsalt well with tectonic stresses challenges.

The wells were drilled in 1000 to 2500mtrs of water with moored , DP semis and drill ships between 1999 and 2008.

Bonga Field Development

A deepwater development offshore Nigeria operated by Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Co. This development produced first oil in 2005 from wells in waterdepths ranging between 1500 and 2200m. Most of the wells were completed with sand control and single completions producing up to 45,000BOPD. Development drilling started in 2001 and the wells were batch-drilled and then completed. The wells were unloaded using a subsea intervention package from the MODU. Field oil production topped 200,000BOPD through one of the worlds largest FPSO’s

Jubilee Field Development

A deepwater development offshore Ghana operated by Tullow. The field was discovered in 2007 and a fast-track development started in 2008 in a frontier area with no existing O&G related infrastructure. First oil into the Kwame Nkruma FPSO commenced in November 2010 after having batch drilled and completed the necessary water injection and production wells. Well Delivery performance was independently benchmarked as best in class. Jubilee phase 1 was subsequently followed by phases 1A and 1B. These phases saw infill wells drilled using increasingly complex technology such as horizontal gravelpacks and smart multi-zone completions.

TEN Field Development

The Tweneboa -Enyenray-Ntomme cluster of fields were discovered in 2009 and development started in 2010, again operated by Tullow Ghana. After the Plan of Development was approved in 2012, first oil occurred in August 2016 to the FPSO John Evans Atta Mills. The 3 accumulations have their own drilling centres with a combination of water injection, oil production and gas wells, all tied back subsea to the FPSO. Unlike Jubilee, this field was developed around smart completion design of the wells thus maximizing flexibility and ultimate recovery from the wells. The field is much more complex than Jubilee to develop hence the focus on technology. Both TEN and Jubilee were developed using horizontal trees, largely produced locally by FMC.
